Meet Zoe

Over the past few weeks I've been trying to adopt a Bernese Mountain Dog named Zoe. Ever since I saw a couple of dogs of the same breed at the Outdoor Retailer Show I've wanted one. However, because they are fairly rare, or hard to get, I didn't realy expect to have one. We found Zoe on an adoption site and couldn't believe someone would give her up. (Ends up it was a military family who was moved suddenly and was unable to take her with them.)

Zoe bonded with me and the family during our first visit. I think she chose us, because it was that bonding that convinced the agency to let us take her. (There were hundreds of other who wanted her.)

Anyway, I'm sure there will be an adjustment with adding a dog to the family, but we are so excited to have her.

Join Me on Facebook

Last week I broke down and created a Facebook profile. I've used LinkedIn as a social networking tool in the past, but I've found very little use for it. I once invited someone I saw on LinkedIn to lunch with a common friend. I think the guy was expecting me to try to sell him a case of Xango or some other MLM product. I just wanted to ask him about where he worked because I was considering an open position there.

I read an article last week indicating the who's who of silicone valley are on Facebook and LinkedIn are for stuffy business types. So I joined. I found a high school friend and some family members, but my Facebook friends list is pretty small.

If you are on facebook, I want to be your friend.

(BTW, I'm keeping my LinkedIn account too, so if you're there look me up.

Need Help on Utah's Referendum 1

I'm having some problems understanding the ramifications of Referendum 1. I'm a conservative capitalist, so the idea of empowering people to choose the school their children go to and put their tax money toward that school. However, I see the value of educating all children in our society and I worry the vouchers will ultimately be bad for public schools. I read this article on KSL and still don't really understand the issues. (I even spent some time readyting through the 350+ comments)

Please, if anyone reading this has a position on this referendum, will you please help me understand how I should vote.

Timpanogos Girl's Soccer

I shot the Timpanogos / Weber girls soccer game last night with my buddy. It was a great game that Timpanogos was lucky to win. Here's one of my shots.
