Utah Photo Tour

Last week I spent time in Southern Utah with my friend Jason Olson. We started the trip taking care of one of Jason's work assignments at the Deseret News. He was shooting a story in Monticello about high school football in a small town. It was fun to tag along as he attended the school pep assembly, visited a family of fans in their home as they painted their faces for the big game, and shot the peripheral activities of the football game. The people of Monticello were great.

After the assignement was completed, we took off to Canyonlands National Park. We spent the morning in the Needles district (an area I've hiked a lot in while researching my book) taking photos. It was fairly uninspiring. Because we stayed near the car, we were unable to get out to the spires that make the Needles district so unique.

After Canyonlands, we went to Arches to get the obligatory sunset shot of Delicate Arch and then moved on to Capitol Reef. I've posted a shot of an early 1900s barn we took at sunset.

Watch the "Projects" section of my site gallery for more pictures from the trip.
