Video Clips From Triathlon

My son took a few video clips during the race with our digital elf. Video quality isn't the greatest, but I though it would be fun to share. You will need Quicktime to view these videos.

This clip shows me swimming. Check out the smooth, consistent cadence of my stroke. :) Swimming was the hardest event for me to train for, but I think I did well considering I only started swimming 8 weeks ago. View Swimming Video.

This is the transition from the bike ride to running. It's mostly a shot of my backside, but you can see the transition area. Doing the transitions was probably the most nerve-racking part of the race.View Transition Video.

Me running down the final stretch before entering the gauntlet.View Running Video.

Me running across the finish line and having my name announced. View Finish Video.

Swim, Bike, Run

A few pictures of me (taken by my wife) participating in the AF Icebreaker Triathlon. I wasn't the slowest, but I have plenty of room to improve. You can see a breakdown of my times here.

Mr. Ed

While taking a pictures of a barn in Capitol Reef, this curious horse came over to see what was going on. It was funny because he kept trying to nibble on the rubber tripod knobs. I didn't any great shots of the barn, but I did leave with this shot and a slobbery wet tripod.

Icebreaker Triathlon

It's the first day of spring, and this is what it looked like on my way in to work this morning.

Ordinarily the snowy, cold, wet weather wouldn't be a problem; however, I'm scheduled to run a traithlon sprint on Saturday. This will be my first triathlon and I'd prefer to have a nice, warm experience. As it stands, I think getting out of the pool and jumping on my bike is going to be chilly.

You can see the maps for the bike and run coarse here:

Next week I'll try to post some picture from the race.

Day with a news photographer

I spent the day with a good friend of mine who shoots for a local newspaper. In the morning we shot dancing at Provo High School. The ballroom dance team is raising money to attend a dance competition in Las Vegas. They are holding a dance competition (patterned after the TV show "Dancing With The Stars") called "Dancing With The Athletes." The following shot is Funaki Asisi (football player) and Shannon Edwards (dancer) working on a throw in their swing routine.

Later in the afternoon we shot Viewmont vs. Brighton boy's soccer. I really needed a bigger lens, but all I had was my 70-200mm with a 1.4 teleconverter. Needless to say, most of the action I was able to shoot was on my end of the field.

LightSphere

Today I finally received my LightSphere II from Gary Fong. Getting it has been an ordeal. I ordered it on January 5th from Gary's site. About 3 weeks ago I was able to find a contact to help me track the order. After a few weeks of emails I finally received it.

The LightSphere is awsome. I shot last week's wedding with a borrowed LightSpere. It diffuses the light so nicely. I highly recommend picking one up. It's odd that I would endorse a product that was such a pain to get, but really is a great photographic tool.

Casey & Mallory

Here are a few pictures from the wedding I shot yesterday. The bride and groom, along with all of their family, were a pleasure to photograph. Congratulations Casey and Mallory!

This Week's Bridal

Despite the cold and snow, I shot a bridal last Thursday that resulted in some of my favorite wedding pictures I have done to date. We shot at an old barn in Payson where I've done several other family pictures.

The bride was very happy and playful which showed through in her pictures. Because I've already done the editing on the pictures the bride wanted to display at her reception, I've posted them. However, we made so many more great photos.

Enjoy these for now and I'll soon post a collage of pictures from the wedding, shot yesterday.
